The Media Lens: “WNBA championship Parade”

The website Sports Illustrated displays several different articles on male athletes. I searched for headlightsd about women in sports and found out that the link for that information is listed under the more button. An article written about the WBA team Minnesota Lynex won their first championship title and was celebrating with a parade in the streets. I read the article that continued to state that the WNBA has not been a hot topoc but lately has received notice due to the Vikings 1-4, The Twins lost 99 times and the Timberwolves aren't playing because of the NBA lockout. The media coverage about the win was not on every single sports channel. The issue about the NBA lockout has been reported to the public more than once a day. I believe this is ironic since the media makes it seem like male athletes are better than females. Therefore, the media coverage on males is seen more to the public and less attention on female athletes. I think we still live in a bias society that favors the male dominate ideology. Women are accepted in the sports, but the media still constructs the public to focus on the males and not informed about the women. The future generation in media will have to make a difference by changing the ideology to a positive look on women in sports.
