Penn State's beloved coach Sandusky rape scandal is all over the media. Social media has shaped the scandal as a very serious event and has made it the top story lately especially in sports news. Sandusky's accusation is not to be taken lightly and many people are outraged on how long it took for it to become known and the law to get involved. Most of the comments in the media and social newworks such as twitter are if the assistant coach Mike McQueary actually witness Sandusky raping a 10 year old boy in the locker room, why didn't he go to the police? Instead McQueary went to the defensive coordinator Joe Paterno and from there no action was taken, it seems that it was silenced.
It seems that if one has power you can get away with anything. Many people believe since Sandusky was succesful at winning football games then the president of the school will keep people silent from bring out Sandusky's molestations. This scandal was another one of those political power silence schemes but finally it was leaked out to the media. The media is a powerful tool and it can be used for good or bad. In this case media did good and it is blowing up the scandal and making it known Sandusky's criminal actions. Unfortunately the reputation of Penn State is going to be hurt and now even more becuase it took so long for someone to take action.
Personally I cannot believe the way McQueary reacted and told another coach instead of first of all try to stop Sandusky and secong report him to the police. Maybe at the time of being shocked it was okay but after some time if McQueary saw no type of action being carried he should of went to the authorites. But then again, the power of the school and politics has the last word. No doubt in my mind i believe that McQeary and Paterno were some how forced to be silent either with threats or money. And although McQueary and Paterno did not rape children they are still to be punished for not going to the authorities.
