the media has shaped the PSU scandal by amplifying the issue and making it a great concern. the media has controlled what the general public will take in and has shaped the way our minds would percieve it which would be as the most horrible scandal in the world. the media has much power over how the story would be portayed for the public. it is a good that the media is not trying to defend Paterno or Sandusky or their actions. The media is airing the entire story in order to inform the general public of all that has taken place. From this situation and everything that has happen in the last 15 yrs shows how issues of power, media and deviance intersect. The aurthorities at Penn State had the power to go to the proper authorities in order cease what was taking place but instead they wanted to keep all the "good" media they were receiving to hide the deviant behavior that was happening all along. being that those in postions of power knew about the scandal and said nothing this is their way of covering it up, by waiting almost 2 decades to reveal what was happening; after all the good that PSU was being televised for. The media is now using their power to exposed the authorities their in order to allow the public to question the morals and ethics at PSU. My personal reaction to the scandal was that, for one, sandusky is sick and Paterno does not have morals. Its sad that the victims had to suffer and go through what they went through with these 2 men, but i also wonder ahy didnt any of the victims speak up sooner in order to save someone else from becoming victimized. It is shameful that Sandusky does not find any wrong in his actions and i hope that justice is served to all.
