Bodybuilding for woman has only been around since the 1960's. Judges really didn't focus on the muscle mass a woman had, but rather how good she looked in a bikini. It wasn't until 1978 when the real first contest took place where women were judged on their muscularity. I have a close friend of mine who is going to be doing her first body building contest and she has mentioned how she has been "bullied" for doing a male sport. I believe that maybe in the 1930's-1940's if body building events took place, people would give women a hard time because back than this wasn't considered "ladylike." But now that it is 2011 shouldn't this bullying and mental state of mind be different? Women today are doing all kinds of different challenging sports and body building is one of them. I see bodybuilding as a form of art in an athletic way and many people don't see that it takes months to get prepared for such hard contests and a lot of commitment. Let me know what you think should be done and how you all feel about women body builders.
