First off, I had to say,"Wow, were they serious?" to believe that a school's mindset is still in the days where women could not vote, hold any position of authority, or be "above" anyone, let alone ref a simple game is quite ridiculous. But in regards to their decision, lets reflect. Based on the schools beliefs in which "older Roman Catholic laws" are followed, I can see why. There perspective is about 100 years old, too old. A little old for this day an age where women hold plenty of positions of authority like the chairman and ceo's of their companys,Pepsi's Indra Nooyi, and Xerox's Anne Mulcahy. May I add that they are in fortune's 50 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN 2007, and are listed as 1 and 2, respectively. To read that a school actually rejected a person not for there ability, but due to their gender. Nowadays, women are just as good as men in positions, and sometimes their much better suited than men. In MensHealth magazine, Feb 2008, an article titled," Ace your doctor exam" its about how doctors waste your time from the waiting room, to cutting you off when your explaining your symptoms. It states," If you want more quality time with your M.D. schedule an appointment with a female doctor, not male." Now let those facts marinate in your head while you sit around and think about values and principles that are older than the actual people who follow them.
